The creator of phrenology is the Austrian physician and anatomist Franz Josef Gall. He claimed that all mental properties are localized in different parts of the brain, and believed that differences in the cerebral convolutions can be determined by the bulge ("bump") on the corresponding part of the skull, and in case of underdevelopment of part of the brain — by the depression.
