Eye: Jelina Elsmann
We've opened our eyes
Oil on wood
20x20cm
Story of her father:
2.5 years old, born in freedom and with a carefree look, but what my parents find strange, such as wearing a mask or dropping me off at the daycare gate, is already normal for me.
Will I ever experience the free carefree youth my parents had? What kind of future do we have?
If I ever have to write a book thesis, is George Orwell's 1984 fiction or non-fiction? I have so many questions, but please let's continue looking each other in the eyes, loving, and not being fooled by what we are being told.
In the background, of course, Debbie's painting #zipit, which to Jelina might mean 'don't talk with your mouth full' or not swear, for me stands for the government that wants to close the zipper on us. Still, I won't let that happen to me, freedom and freedom of speech and expression are our greatest assets, and if we don't get up and open our eyes, we'll just lose them!2.5 years old, born in freedom and with a carefree look, but what my parents find strange, such as wearing a mask or dropping me off at the daycare gate, is already normal for me.
