This is my another of my own designs of a colourful traditional Shetland Hap Shawl in Old Shale pattern. Hand knitted with 2ply Shetland lace yarn which will keep your baby cosy and warm.
It is knitted from the centre out in garter stitch, then the Old Shale border knitted outwards from the set-up row, and the Doris Lace Edging is then knitted onto the border stitches and finally blocked.
The yarn is 50% pure Shetland wool and 50% lambswool. These shawls were used by Shetland women to "cover, wrap or keep warm" or can be used for just about anything as it is also perfect for wrapping up your your little baby!
Measurements: Approx 64" diameter.
Cool hand wash, squeeze gently, roll in a towel to remove excess water and dry flat to shape. Or block out fully.
