Back at the chess tables in Washington Square yesterday. While I painted @newyorkchess.marty from a distance, Irene played a couple of games with “Doc”. He beat her, but Doc is 99 so he’s got a few more games under his belt. Real New Yorkers avoid Times Square like the plague. The second of the two little paintings from times square the other day. What I found especially challenging was painting the bright LED action. Those signs change every few seconds. So you look, mix a color, look back up and instead of dark blue it’s bright pink! And many of those colors I would not care to paint. Saturday morning, while my 10 year old chess hustler played a school tournament, I shuffled around Central Park painting. This is the #daleheadarch looking west. Saturday morning, while my 10 year old chess hustler played a school tournament, I shuffled around Central Park painting. This is the #daleheadarch looking west. No easel, just painted sitting on the grass. The hardest part is getting up. Here’s my latest effort at my E 10th street commission, painted Thursday and Friday. My struggle has been to feature the clients old building building (on the right) and the Russian Baths, and have the light and everything else come together.
