A largish painting of Katz’s and the raking mid-day light on Ludlow street. Knowing the light was moving fast and that it would all be in shadow soon (third pic) I went all shorthand; cursory indications of figures, windows and cast shadows. The point of painting from life is, after all, to do something that feels alive.
