Mask of the Igala, Nigeria 35 cm high 610 g The Igala live in the southeast of Nigeria, at the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers, between the Yoruba, Idoma and Ibo. The Igala have a strong ancestor cult and most of their face masks (they also have animal masks) represent ancestors. The wooden Igala ancestral mask offered here has scar tattoos on the forehead, cheeks, nose and mouth. Fabric and nails Overall good condition with signs of age and wear.
