There is one wave - the ninth, which stands out for its power, strength, and huge size. It was this wave that terrified the sailors. She is also depicted by the artist. Fast sailing ships, a fleet with many ships returning to the bay after the battle, were one of the themes in the artist's paintings. An image of a strong storm and a small boat with people, which the waves carry to the rocks. The main role in the picture is played by waves with crests of snow-white foam. When creating the view of Odessa, the artist used the composition of the sea landscape that had developed by that time in his work with a view of the seaside city in the background.
